Project Overview

This exceptional project involved the transformation of an old community center into a dynamic and inspiring work retreat for the staff of a large company. With a foundation steeped in history and an extensive art collection at its core, our challenge was to reinterpret the space for our client, creating a vibrant, functional environment that catered to both work and relaxation.

Our design concept focused on refreshing the site and curating the perfect blend of furnishings to accommodate staff visiting Toronto. The goal was to create a retreat that could serve multiple purposes—a place for working remotely, brainstorming, and fostering creativity. The result is a space that fully embodies the client’s eclectic taste and passion for artistic expression, offering a rich and stimulating environment for employees to escape the office and recharge in an inspiring atmosphere.

The heart of the project lies in the integration of over 300 pieces of carefully curated art and sculpture, making each room feel like a gallery unto itself. Bold, bright fabrics and a variety of textures were strategically chosen to complement and balance the artwork, creating a harmonious fusion of creativity and comfort. Each corner of the retreat invites exploration and reflection, with art becoming an integral part of the work experience.

The design blends functionality with inspiration, incorporating flexible workstations, breakout spaces, and areas for quiet contemplation, all within a setting that feels less like an office and more like an artist's studio or creative haven. The use of sculptural elements and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces enhances the unique character of the retreat, making it a true escape from the ordinary.
